Rustam Musurmonov

Rustam Musurmonov is a talented poet. His poems have also been published in Tajik and Karakalpak languages. He is a literary consultant at the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan. The poet's verses have been appearing in local newspapers and magazines since his student years. Rustam Musurmonov was awarded the «Shuhrat» medal in 1999.

Biography

Rustam Musurmonov was born on August 26, 1963, in the village of Yakkatut, Kitob District, Kashkadarya Region.

After graduating from the Faculty of Philology at Tashkent State University in 1983-1989, he studied in the university's postgraduate program. Simultaneously, he worked as a teacher at the university (1983-92) and as a research fellow at the Alisher Navoi Institute of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan (1993-95).

His poems have been published in the magazines “Sharq yulduzi”, “Yoshlik”, and the newspapers “O‘zbekiston adabiyoti va san’ati”, “Vatan”, and “O‘zbekiston tabiati”. He came to the attention of the literary public as a talented poet.

His love for poetry and his desire to find his place in the literary environment led him to the field of journalism. He worked in the newspaper “O‘zbekiston adabiyoti va san’ati” as a junior reporter, reporter, senior reporter, and department head (1995-2000).

In 1996, Rustam Musurmon was accepted as a member of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan along with talented poets Iqbol Mirzo and Salim Ashur. Known as an active poet and publicist, the writer was invited to work at the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan. He served as a literary consultant and executive secretary at the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan.

From 2010 to 2013, the poet headed the “Poetry and Prose” department of the “O‘zbekiston adabiyoti va san’ati” newspaper. In his artistic and journalistic articles, written in a lively, authentic language and poetic style, he depicts our people's creative activities with vivid examples.

During the years of independence, more than 100 of his articles on the topics of the Motherland, Independence, and spirituality were published in the press.

He is currently working as a literary consultant at the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan.

Rustam Musurmon has gained respect for his exemplary work as a poet, translator, and publicist. In the republic, he has become well-known among the people, especially the younger generation, through his poems about raising them to be healthy and mature individuals loyal to the ideas of independence and respectful of national values, as well as his unique and captivating recitation of poetry in the style of a bakhshi.

He celebrates independence and calls our compatriots to vigilance in his poetry collections «Ruhimning tovushi» (1994) and «Xirgoyi» (1997), his epic poem «Ruh nasibasi» (1997), and in poems published in the press.

He successfully participated in the «Ofarin — 2001″ national contest in the «Best Poet of the Year» category and was awarded a certificate.

The publication of his novella “Muqanna”, based on the theme of the national liberation movement, in the 1st issue of “Sharq yulduzi” magazine in 2014, launched his career as a writer.

He skillfully translated and published the poetry and prose book «Chig‘ir» (2007) by People's Poet of Uzbekistan Alexander Faynberg, and the epic poem «Shimollik mehmon» (2005) by children's poet Yoqub Xo‘jayev from Russian into Uzbek. He also translated and published the novel «Og‘abiy» (2014) by Karakalpak People's Poet Kengesboy Karimov, the poetry collection «Ukuzdaryo bitiklari» (2006) by Baxtiyor Genjamurod, the epic poems «Madexon so‘zi yoxud Chin ipagidagi bitik» (2006) and «Qoraqalpoq» (2006), and the poetry collection «Karvon yo‘llari» (2011) by young poetess Sarvinoz Musatdinova from Karakalpak into Uzbek. He took second place in the national competition for literary translation organized by the International Culture Center (2008). Translations of Pablo Neruda's poems were published in the 9th issue of “Jahon adabiyoti” magazine in 2013; poems by Polish poets Anna Swirszczynska, Tadeusz Różewicz, Miron Białoszewski, Andrzej Bursa, and Edward Stachura in the 11th issue of 2013; and translations of Bulgarian folk songs and poems by Ivan Vazov, Dimitar Metodiev, and Veselin Hanchev in the 11th issue of 2014.

Rustam Musurmon was awarded 3rd place in the national competition «Strong Family - Pillar of Society» (2012) and 2nd place in the national competition «Let's Live for the Motherland» (2014).

In his poem titled “Chavandoz”, part of a large poetry cycle published in the March 25, 2015 issue of “Kitob dunyosi” newspaper, People's Poet of Uzbekistan Sirojiddin Sayyid wrote the following lines about Rustam Musurmon's versatile creative activity and artistic skill:

“Calling it until the 'Lacetti'

He has graced his homeland,

skilled with words, a finder —

In the arena of poetry

he rides adroitly and swiftly,

The steed of poetry

is ridden by Rustam Musurmon.”

He is also a mentor who served with dedication at the «School of Talent» seminar for young creators, teaching the youth lessons of love for the Motherland and independence.

He was awarded a letter of appreciation from the Republican Women's Committee for his activity in public affairs (2012) and a diploma from the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan for his creative work in promoting our national art (2012).

Currently, he is actively creating as a poet, translator, and journalist.
